Job Number:  7709 - Director of Controversies
Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for setting company policies and developing tax strategy in the areas of:
Actively managing the Companies U.S. federal tax controversies including the federal IRS audits.
Maintaining a productive relationship with the Internal Revenue Service.
Monitor tax controversies for non US locations (which are the primary responsibility of the local tax teams).
Actively manage any US federal tax appeal/litigation process.
This position will make decisions processes for the US federal tax controversies area.
Actively manage multi - country cross boarder tax controversies; namely potential Competent Authority and/or Advanced Pricing Agreement processes.
Provide leadership and support for tax department initiatives, including training and development programs and process improvement projects in areas of Tax Controversies.
Supports VP Tax and collaborates with other key Tax Department team and other departments, and other Management on achieving their purposes and objectives by providing ancillary strategic direction, council and analysis.

Experience and Education:

BBA required MST, JD or LLM preferred.  Major in Accounting, Finance or Law is preferred.
CPA or JD strongly desired.
Minimum 10 years of progressive tax experience, with demonstrated comprehension of tax controversies practice and process.
At least 4 years of tax controversies experience is required.
Minimum 3 years in a people leadership role, with strong leadership and teaming skills required.
Strong working knowledge of corporate tax rules including US domestic tax rules and working knowledge of U.S. international and US state tax rules.
Solid Excel skills, Microsoft Office, and knowledgeable in tax compliance software.
Strong strategic leadership and business partnership skills.
Strong interpersonal and people leadership skills, capable of effectively communicating, delegating and team building.
Proven track record for growth in a corporate tax function.
