Darren Benoit graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management, Minneapolis. After receiving his degree, Benoit began his career with Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where he worked in accounting and corporate finance roles throughout the United States. He went on to work at Pillsbury (General Mills) and Dental Services Group in various finance capacities, including Director of Finance, prior to joining SALO, LLC in early 2003.

Benoit earned an M.B.A. from the Carlson School of Management in 2002, and continues to regularly network with several university sponsored organizations. He also serves on the Riverton Community Housing nonprofit board, and is a member of a variety of networking organizations including the Turnaround Management Association and the National Association of Corporate Directors.
