SALO NAMED TO INC. 500 LIST, JOINING RANKS OF AMERICA'S
FASTEST GROWING PRIVATE COMPANIES
Staffing Firm Wins Top Spot Among Minnesota Human Resources Companies
MINNEAPOLIS, MN, August 27, 2007 SALO, LLC, the Twin Cities' amazing success story in finance and human resources staffing, today had its impressive five year performance affirmed as a new member of the "Inc. 500 List of America's Fastest Growing Private Companies."
In results that were announced nationally today by Inc. Magazine, SALO came in as the sixth fastest-growing company in Minnesota and Wisconsin and the second fastest growing company in Minneapolis. In addition, SALO was the top-performing human resources company in Minnesota and ranked 27th nationally in HR. Among the Inc. 500, SALO ranks 301 among the nation's fastest growing private companies and is in the top 6 percent of the Inc. 5000 the newly expanded category of fast-growth companies.
The 2007 Inc. 500 list measures revenue growth from 2003 to 2006. To qualify, companies had to be U.S.- based and privately held, independent not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies as of December 31, 2006, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2003, and $2 million in 2006. SALO posted growth of 858.1% for the three years ending December 31, 2006.
John Folkestad, SALO co-founder, said he was thrilled that SALO has been included among the country's top performing private companies. "The Inc. 500 is the equivalent of the Academy Awards for privately-held companies. This is a real honor for us and validates the significant need in the Twin Cities for top-performing senior level finance and human resources professionals," he said. Amy Langer, Folkestad's partner and SALO's co-founder, added that "SALO's culture as a high-energy partner to its clients is a big factor in the company's rapid growth and early success."
"If you want to find out which companies are going to change the world, look at the Inc. 500," said Inc. editor Jane Berentson. "These are the most innovative, dynamic fast-growth companies in the nation, the ones coming up with solutions to some of our most intractable ills," she said.
SALO: An Early Success Story
Since its founding in 2002, SALO has emerged as the finance and human resources consulting powerhouse in the Twin Cities. The company quadrupled in size in its second full year and then doubled again in its third to $32 million in revenue. This explosive growth has earned SALO a number of prestigious awards both nationally and in the Twin Cities.
This year is likely to be another banner year for SALO and its affiliate companies, Oberon and NumberWorks. With analysts predicting 10 percent industry-wide growth, the company intends to far outpace that number. John Folkestad, co-founder, says SALO expects to realize a whopping 50 percent jump in its combined businesses.
SALO's dramatic success in professional contract employment services is part of the growing national trend towards outsourcing of business functions. SALO operates in the temporary or contract placement niche which, today, is estimated to be an $8.9 billion industry. Experts predict that temporary management jobs are likely to be the occupations most in demand over the next decade. And with accounting and finance bracing for a severe shortage of new workers, SALO is well positioned for continued growth in this segment.
